Ensures their shift maintains the highest standards for safety
performance. Ensures the process is run in compliance with all
operating permits and so that annual operating metrics are
achieved. Takes ownership for plant operations and performance on
their shift.
- Safety
- Ensure operators working on shift comply with all aspects of
the Safety Management System
- Work with operators to identify and eliminate hazards wherever
possible
- Ensure operators working on shift complete all required safety
training on time
- Process Operations
- As the primary control room operator, start, run, troubleshoot
and shut down the entire process as necessary to provide the
highest quality service to the Client.
- Optimize throughput to achieve plant metrics while also
maintaining compliance with all operating permits and
contracts.
- Provide leadership for three process operators on
shift.
- With general guidance from Managers, prioritize and assign work
to the shift and ensure assigned work is completed to established
standards.
- Coordinate with the incoming and outgoing shifts to ensure
continuity
- Monitor raw material, supplies and pellet inventories and
notify Management as necessary
- Enter and track corrective work requests in the plant
CMMS.
- Ensure all necessary data is collected and documented
accurately and completely.
- Ensure all documentation done on the shift is complete and
accurate. This includes but is not limited to daily, weekly, and
monthly equipment inspections, LOTO, hot work, confined space, work
orders and administrative documents such as Attendance
Documentation Forms.
- Leadership
- Prioritize and assign work to shift operators in a clear and
concise manner.
- Train new and junior operators on all aspects of the
process
- Assist operators with project work as required.
- Provide prompt feedback to operators when performance does not
meet expected standards
Contribute to annual performance reviews for shift operators
Skills and Abilities Required
- Ability to lead a team of talented operators.
- Ability to set and adjust priorities as needed to meet plant
goals.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve process related
problems.
- Ability to communicate effectively up and down the chain of
command.
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Functional skills using Microsoft 365 products
Knowledge of biosolids processing as well as 503 regulations

QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- MA Grade IV or higher wastewater operator's license
- Possess or obtain within six months of hire MA Hoisting
Licenses 1C, 2A, 3A (Forklift, Loader, OH Cranes)
- Possess or obtain within six months of hire OSHA 30
Certification.
- 3+ years relevant experience in a plant environment
