Job Description Job Description Manufacturing Engineers are a
core component of the engineering team, serving as the technical
authority for design for manufacturability and for transitioning
best in class products into mass production. Manufacturing
Engineers work closely with other Engineers, Program Managers,
Assembly Operations, Machinists, Quality Engineers, external
partners, and the customers to ensure Wilcox delivers a product
that our customer can trust his/her life with. Roles &
Responsibilities Provides design for manufacturability feedback to
mechanical engineers throughout the product development process.
Supports the development of team members by providing constructive
technical feedback. Demonstrates the ability to receive and act on
constructive feedback. Assists in the preparation of prototypes,
and documents viable assembly processes during engineering builds.
Conducts hands-on testing in laboratory or field settings to
evaluate the performance, durability, and functionality of systems,
ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications.
Identifies any design flaws during testing and helps refine
solutions. Ensures ease of assembly and cost-effectiveness in the
mechanical design process. Identifies areas for improvement in
assembly and manufacturing processes and contributes to the
development and implementation of best practices. Implements
process changes and improvements. Maintains organized records of
design changes, testing results, and engineering decisions for
future reference and traceability. Assists in the preparation of
project schedules for manufacturing engineering tasks, ensuring
efficient use of time and budget. Tracks project progress for
manufacturing engineering tasks, regularly prepares reports, and
ensures that deadlines are met, with moderate supervision to stay
on schedule. Presents results and reports to senior level
management and/or external parties. Stays up to date with the
latest mechanical engineering trends, tools, and technologies, and
incorporates them into the team’s design and development processes
with management support. Conducts time and motion studies to
optimize workflows. Diagnoses and resolves issues in production
lines. Provides technical support to the production team to
minimize downtime. Collects and analyzes process data to monitor
performance. Uses statistical tools to identify trends,
discrepancies, and areas for efficiency gains. Assists in the
training of operators on new processes or equipment. Helps monitor
product quality throughout the manufacturing process. Prepares
engineering documentation such as drawings, root cause/ corrective
action documents, and technical reports. Performs other duties as
directed. Qualifications & Requirements Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline (Mechanical,
Manufacturing). 3 years of Mechanical Engineering experience.
Required Skills/Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication
skills. Proficient in the use of SolidWorks to design complex
systems. Ability to work on complex projects with moderate
supervision. Strong ability to conduct and document root cause /
corrective action. Strong ability to document test results and
write a conclusion statement. Strong organizational skills and the
ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated
understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and manufacturing
processes. Hands-on experience with prototype fabrication and
testing. Good interpersonal communication skills. Strong
understanding of the product development process. Strong problem
solving and analytical skills. Detail-oriented with a focus on
delivering high-quality work. Proficient with Microsoft Office
suite. Preferred Skills/Abilities: 5 years of Mechanical
Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering experience. Experience
with military standards, specifically MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-810.
Experience with laser systems, night vision/imaging systems, or
target location systems. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up
to 25 lbs. occasionally, for handling parts and prototypes. Ability
to work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to perform
physical tests and handle tools/equipment used for prototyping.
Regular on-site attendance is a necessary function of this
