Position Summary:Retail Business Services, the services company of leading omnichannel grocery retail group Ahold Delhaize USA and No. 25 on Fast Company's list of Best Places to Work for Innovators is seeking communications manager to join our award-winning communications team.This role will focus primarily on external communications - developing social media, thought leadership, public relations and event strategies - to enhance the reputation of Retail Business Services and the other Ahold Delhaize USA companies we support. The role will also have a deep focus on Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, particularly developing and executing integrated internal and external communications plans to further the company's culture of belonging through internal engagement and external awareness. This individual will be a member of the communications leadership team, acting as a business partner to assigned functions and regularly interfacing with senior level executive on communications strategy.The ideal candidate will be able to both define strategy and see the plan through execution, collaborating with the rest of the communications team, as well as agency partners. With a communications practice built from the ground up over the past five years, our team combines experience across corporations, non-profits and newsrooms to produce what we believe is the retail industry's preeminent communications program.Transferrable experience will likely come from time spent in a highly matrixed corporation or public relations agency.Principle Duties and Responsibilities:Develops and executes proactive communications plans and programs to promote and gain visibility for company initiatives among its target audiences and ensures communications are focused on supporting strategic priorities and corporate business goals.Builds relationships with national and trade media to help tell the company's story.Creates strong external communications programs, focused on driving brand awareness, employer of choice reputation and thought-leadership.Researches and writes various communications materials, including internal stories for various channels, leadership presentations for internal/external meetings, blog posts, press releases, talking points, speeches, media statements, memos, community letters, award nominations, and other copy as needed in support of communications objectives.Provides communications counsel for key internal and external communications initiatives and programs, and assigned business partners.Creates new communications strategies and channels, while enhancing current channels based on key metrics.Delivers communications plans and programs to enhance associate engagement and increase external awareness of the company as a great place to work to drive the recruiting and retention of talent.Provides counsel to the leadership on communication issues, positioning, and reputation managementDegree of Latitude:The incumbent in this position must be able to combine decisive and careful judgment in fast-moving media, issues, or crises.Qualifications:10 years in PR/communications functionStrategic communications practitioner and hands-on contributor.Extensive experience in working with the C-suite, and proven success in executing high-profile communications initiatives, including the ability to build long-lasting relationships with senior leaders and internal business partners, and have a high degree of credibility with all levels of management.Proven track record of success in developing creative communication campaigns.Advanced proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint and other integrated Microsoft applicationsProficiency with creative applications; video production/editing skills a plusExceptionally strong writing skills, excellent attention to detail, and diligence in a deadline-driven, high-volume of work environmentMust have a proven track record of success in developing and measuring communications strategies and tactics in support of business goalsSkills:Excellent oral and written skills.Team player, able to lead and work collaboratively at all levels and build partnerships with cross-functional teamsMust possess confidence and ability as a communications counselor to all levels of management.Strong interpersonal skills.Excellent organizational, planning, influence, communication, and follow-up skills.Excellent presentation skills.Must be articulate, sensitive to confidential information, and have a high degree of integrity.Energetic self-starter.Must be persuasive and diplomatic in presenting ideas and managing their implementation.Detail the Ability to think quickly and analyze complex communication issues.Ability to work well under pressure and able to meet deadlines.Must be able to develop effective communications strategies and implement successful tactics to drive success among the team.Must have influential relationships with press and other external constituents some travel required; approximately 25%.Education:Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related fieldAccreditation in Public Relations, preferredCertificate in DE&I, preferredRetail Business Services is an equal opportunity employer.
