Job Description:
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:
Directs financial activities of the hotel by performing the
following duties personally or through subordinate colleagues in
the accounting department.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND JOB DUTIES:
--- Supervises daily activities of the accounting department,
including payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, income
audit, general accounting and cashier functions.
--- Plans and implements procedures according to Langham Hotel
policies and systems.
--- Establishes, or recommends to management major economic
strategies, objectives and policies for the hotel. Prepares
financial statements of hotel operations monthly, to include
monthly operating reporting and all other reports required by
Langham Hotels.
--- Ensures monthly balance sheet reconciliations and bank
reconciliations are completed in accordance with Langham Hotels
standard operating procedures.
--- Recommends modifications to existing financial programs.
--- Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business
activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses and
earnings based on past present and expected operations including
month end financial statements through journal entries and cash
flow reports.
--- Assists the Director of Finance with the preparation of
budgets, reviews budget proposals and prepares necessary supporting
documentation and justification.
--- Ensures full compliance of hotel systems and procedures with
control standards established by Langham Hotels.
--- Properly records and accesses insurance coverage for protection
against property losses and potential liabilities per M & C
policy.
--- Provides management with timely reviews of organization's
financial status and progress in its various programs and
activities
--- Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to
tax code revisions.
--- Arranges for audits of company's accounts.
--- Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
--- Provide financial training and support to other departments
--- Assist with overseeing the purchasing and receiving
department
--- Prepare departmental colleague evaluations
--- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
