Equally important, we are an association of highly qualified professionals, committed to establishing and maintaining optimal conditions for student learning from preschool through graduate school.The MTA and its 110,000 members work to advance the quality and equity of Massachusetts public schools and colleges by securing the working conditions and professional respect and autonomy of educators, advocating for full funding for public education, and challenging education "reforms" that serve to privatize public education and undermine educator professionalism and the student learning experience.The MTA is looking for a Senior HR Administrative Assistant who is responsible for handling various high-level and confidential administrative duties on behalf of HR and General Counsel, reporting jointly to the Human Resources Director and the General Counsel/Deputy General Counsel. This role will work entirely in the HR Division with special projects from time to time with the General Counsel/Deputy General Counsel. A successful candidate will have the ability to take projects and run with them, strong technical aptitude, and a comfort working in a high paced work environment. Specific Responsibilities:Proofreads and formats draft memos, reports, etc., and prepares final documents including confidential documents related to labor relations and employee discipline, grievances, complaints, bargaining, etc.Taking confidential notes and gathering confidential files/binders for HR, GC/DGC relating to labor relations and governance.Taking confidential notes during bargaining sessions with staff unions; including late nights when staff CBAs are being bargained.Assists with sensitive Governance related work, including assisting the development of Board policy, bylaws, and other issues that may come up related to staff union issues and other labor relations.Assisting HR, GC, and DGC with confidential staff union-related workAnswer employee queries about HR-related issues and is the first point of contact.Manage end-to-end processes for hire to termination for all staff, including drafting offer letters, new hire orientation, HRIS data entry, employee changes, exit interview coordination, etc.Provides confidential employee payroll-related information to Finance & Accounting staff.Participate in ongoing HR projects as directed by the HR Director.Create regular reports and presentations on HR metrics (e.g., turnover rates, applicant sources, etc.) at the direction of the HR Director.Takes detailed notes investigatory, union grievance, collective bargaining, and other meetings, as assigned.Coordinates distribution (both electronic and paper) of notices to employees and/or former employees.Maintains electronic and paper record-keeping for records of current and former employees; union grievances, negotiations, and other records; plan documents, contracts, and other benefit administration records; and other HR and Legal records.Manages the calendars, which often contain confidential or sensitive matters, of the Human Resources Director, the General Counsel and the Deputy General Counsel; schedules and plans for both in-person and online meetings.Working with the Governance & Administration staff prepares for and as assigned, attends confidential Personnel Screening Team meetings.Working with the Human Resources staff provides employee payroll-related information to Finance & Accounting staff. Other duties as assigned.
