Job Description: Human Resources AssociateThe HR Associate
provides guidance to managers, faculty, and staff on a wide range
of human resources topics. When necessary, acts as an intermediary
between managers, new hires, and University Human Resources to
resolve issues related to hiring, data accuracy, benefits, payroll,
compliance, and time tracking. Supports division's hiring managers
by providing expertise, guidance, and transactional support through
hiring, onboarding, and offboarding practices for full-time,
part-time, temporary, and international employment.Minimum
QualificationsKnowledge of human resources policies, procedures,
programs, and employment laws. Critical thinking skills and ability
to quickly grasp new concepts. Organizational skills. Strong
interpersonal skills to relate well to all people, communicate
clearly, build relationships, and use tact in tense situations.
Proficiency in MS Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and core
HR platforms. Typically obtained through a related bachelor's
degree or equivalent, with 1-3 years of service, preferably in
higher education.Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Human Resources Activities: Apply knowledge of policies,
procedures, and programs to guide and support managers, faculty,
and staff on staffing, promotions, and related matters. Serve as
intermediary for resolving issues related to hiring, data,
benefits, payroll, and time tracking. Respond to data requests,
prepare reports, conduct exit interviews, and process termination
forms.
- Hiring, Onboarding, and Offboarding: Support managers through
hiring processes, including creating requisitions, preparing offer
letters, and guiding through onboarding practices. Serve as the
main contact for new hires from offer to first day, and provide
training on applicant tracking systems.
- HR Administration, Compliance & Programs: Ensure compliance
with employment laws and policies, facilitate I-9 processes, manage
HR files, and maintain faculty databases. Support activities like
monitoring grant-funded appointments, processing HR actions, and
managing non-paid appointments and visas.
- Special Projects & Process Improvement: Participate in projects
to improve candidate and employee experience, recommend
improvements, and develop documentation and workflows.
- Supervision: May supervise students or temporary
