Position Summary:

The Associate Relations Specialist works with HR Business Partners and other HR functional areas to mitigate/resolve associate relations issues, provide counseling management and proactively identify solutions. This includes conducting workplace investigations, counseling management with respect to federal, state and local EEO and other laws to ensure consistent interpretation and application of laws, policies and procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

* Manage associate relations including mitigating and resolving employee issues, conflict resolution, corrective action, and policy interpretation for assigned business areas
* Partner with Manager of Associate Relations and Law department to investigate issues (such as associate complaints, performance management and coaching/counseling leaders) for the purpose of ensuring that effective, legally compliant resolutions
* Support HR Business Partners and Business Leaders on the development of business area HR related policies; e.g., attendance, dress code, flexible work schedules, etc.
* Partner with the Leave Administrator to identify and remediate issues with associates on short-term disability, FMLA or those requesting an accommodation to ensure legal compliance and consistency in process application
* Respond to written and verbal inquiries for the purposes of resolving problems, providing information, recommending or implementing a remediation plan
* Deliver positive associate relations presentations to leaders and associates on a variety of topics including new policies, procedures, trends and opportunities for improvement
* Advise Leaders on complex issues such as interpretation and implementation of applicable laws, regulations and policies.
* Serve as a project manager to improve processes by collaborating with other HR areas to manage resources, scope, and deliverables of assigned projects. Responsible for end-to-end project management including the establishment of project plans, timelines and presenting to executive leadership on project status and milestones.


* Demonstrated ability to effectively identify, analyze, and resolve complex situations in conjunction with business leaders and the Manager of Associate Relations
* Demonstrated creative problem solving and a high level of discernment and confidentiality.
* Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills
* Leadership abilities including negotiation and conflict resolution.
* Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
* Strong critical thinking skills
* PC Skills (Microsoft Office) and knowledge of HRIS systems and reporting

Education/Relevant Experience:

* Minimum of three years Human Resources experience with emphasis on interpersonal relationship building, associate relations and problem solving
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required
* PHR certification a plus

High school degree or equivalent required unless otherwise noted above
