The Sports and Recreation Gym Monitor will provide supervision and assist all Sport & Recreation programs and activities that are operating. We are determined: above all else, we are on a relentless quest to make our community stronger beginning with you. core expectations The Sports and Recreation Gym Monitor must meet all the requirements and assist in Working with the S&R staff to maintain a consistent level of quality in service, programs, and facilities. Facility upkeep Staff/member interaction Ensure gym rules are being followed Provide staff support and leadership The operation and function of the Gymnasium for YMCA members and guests. Use a "solution oriented" approach to improve member and staff satisfaction Log all equipment repair issues and report to the Associate Executive Director on all issues requiring immediate attention. Fill out and/or follow up on incident reports. Report all member issues and complaints to the Associate Executive Director. Assist with day-to-day operation of Sports and Rec programing, including but not limited to setup, breakdown, cleaning, instructing, enforcing policies, maintaining safety, and organizing events. Perform all other duties as assigned by the Associate Executive Director or senior staff. 1. STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT Work with YMCA staff and treat them with respect. Perform other tasks and /or duties deemed necessary by the Associate Executive Director. Monitor and communicate with supervisor on all staff related issues and concerns. Attend all staff meetings. Maintain and keep up to date with all required proper certifications (deemed by the Associate Executive Director).2. MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT Provide welcoming member service. Interact with members in a friendly, engaging and professional manor. Respond to inquiries and solves problems. Creates a supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new families, and connects families to the YMCA's cause. Educate members of all policies and procedures of the YMCA. Be familiar with all information and answer questions about programs, schedules, and policies of the Sport & Recreation department. Ensure that the South Shore YMCA Child Protection Policies are fulfilled. Submit proposals for new programming initiatives. Rely membership trends, interests and feedback.3. FACILITY MANAGEMENT Assist in providing an area that is clean, safe and well maintained. Ensure that all equipment is in good working order and communicate to management any deficiencies in quantity and or quality of all equipment. Keep track of all Sports and Rec inventory. Maintain storage areas and playing surfaces. Assist with cleaning and organizing inventory. Enforce all scheduled usage of areas within the activity spaces based on the daily and weekly schedules provided. Assist with special event set-ups4. VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT Support volunteers and their daily functions.5. COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT Assists in YMCA fund raising activities/events, and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community. QUALIFICATIONS Experience supervising children and adults preferred Knowledge/experience with a variety of sports and programs Red Cross CPR/AED & First Aid Certifications The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, members, community leaders and other agencies is critical to this position. Effective teaching skills, the ability to deliver excellent member service, and a high level of enthusiasm are required.
