Together, we're shaping the next generation of leaders and change-makers.TPZ is a hybrid workplace.ABOUT THE ROLE:TPZ is seeking a Data Scientist to support its Research & Evaluation (R&E) team. Reporting to the Chief Research & Evaluation Officer (CREO), the Data Scientist will collaborate with TPZ's Vice President of Research & Evaluation, Senior Knowledge Management Engineer, and Database Engineer to leverage data to enhance program outcomes, inform strategic decisions, and contribute to TPZ's thought leadership in youth development and economic equity.The ideal candidate will have expertise in advanced quantitative data analysis, predictive modeling, machine learning, large language models (LLMs), and data visualization, along with a strong ability to communicate complex insights to diverse audiences. This position is perfect for a data-driven professional that is passionate about advancing equity and empowering youth through innovative solutions.Responsibilities

  • Conduct statistical analyses and predictive modeling to identify trends, measure program effectiveness, and forecast outputs and outcomes for students and organizational initiatives.
  • Contribute to dashboards, visualizations, and reports that provide actionable insights for stakeholders.
  • Analyze diverse datasets, including program performance data, survey responses, student outcomes, fundraising data, organizational culture data, and external benchmarks, to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with the Knowledge Management (KM) Technologies team to design and maintain robust data pipelines and storage solutions, ensuring high-quality, secure, and accessible data systems.
  • Support the integration and optimization of data from multiple sources, including Salesforce, National Student Clearinghouse, and other external databases.
  • Develop and maintain data cleaning and processing scripts to streamline analysis and reporting.
  • Partner with various organizational teams to understand their data needs and co-develop metrics and tools for evaluating student outcomes, program performance, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Present findings and recommendations to TPZ leadership, staff, and external partners in clear, compelling, and accessible formats.
  • Work closely with the Research & Evaluation team to design and implement data collection strategies, including surveys, observational tools, and feedback loops.
  • Apply advanced analytics toward innovative approaches to measure and predict program impact.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in data science, education technology, and nonprofit analytics to bring new tools and approaches to TPZ.
  • Contribute to thought leadership efforts, including co-authoring research articles, white papers, and presentations that highlight TPZ's data-driven impact.Qualifications
    • Passion for TPZ's mission and values, and commitments to diversity, equity, and inclusion
    • 10+ years of work experience in data science, analytics, or a related field, preferably within the nonprofit or education sectors; advanced degree strongly preferred.
    • Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools, including R and Python.
    • Experience designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines and storage solutions.
    • Strong understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning, LLMs, and predictive modeling techniques.
    • Proficiency with relational databases, APIs, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
    • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable strategies.
    • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
    • Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and innovation.

        COVID Vaccination Policy
        The Possible Zone requires that all employees receive a primary series of COVID-19 vaccination as well as a booster dose. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen and receives a booster dose when eligible.
